The Herbarium is home to over half a million specimens from around the world including vascular plants, bryophytes, algae, lichen, and fungi. The Cowan Vertebrate Collection houses over 40,000 specimens of mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles.
The Spencer Entomological Collection has over 600,000 specimens of insects and other terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates.
The Fish Museum contains over 800,000 preserved fish in jars as well as skeletons, fossils, x-ray images, and DNA samples.
The Marine Invertebrate Collection houses a diverse array of animal specimens, featuring thousands of mollusk shells collected from different environments around the world.
The Fossil Collection has over 20,000 fossils of from all over the world, from recent shells to ancient blue-green algae, the oldest evidence of life on Earth.
